Environmental Issues

Councilman Bob Nolan and Former Councilman James Warden have consistently worked in the minority for environmental accountability in West Milford Township. From Greenwood Lake and the problems associated with the pollution of Belchers Creek, Bob Nolan and James Warden continue to expose the issues that the Republican majority would like to keep secret. One such secret is the MUA, and their continued push for high density development, like Hovanian's Eagle Ridge and TCR's Valley Ridge town homes.

Bob and James have nurtured new relationships with organizations such as the Bi-state Commission, Skylands Clean, the Pequannock River Coalition and the Passaic County Sheriffs Dept. which all bring environmental expertise to our township.

Mayor Bettina Bieri has always been an outspoken environmental advocate. She has helped protect our quality of life, our water supply, and our environment by representing the majority of our residents and speaking against poorly-planned high-density residential developments. In addition to speaking before the Council and/or the planning board, Bettina was a key speaker at the 2007 Highlands Rally and is a member of Skylands Clean and the Pequannock River Coalition.
